Women play a big role in this fiesta. The wives, mothers, daughters and grandmothers of the organizing association and of the artists that build the Fallas are called “Falleras”.
During festivities, they wear traditional Valencian clothes and hairdo.
A huge flower offering takes place in honour of the Virgen de los Desamparados.So big in fact that it takes the two days, the 17th and 18th, to cover the entire statue of the virgin with flowers.
The Falleras start their walk from the neighbourhood association they belong to, accompanied by their musicians.
Group by group they arrive at the main square. Here the flowers they brought will be placed to form a huge statue.
